celebrating ohio wine month: our family adventure at gervasi
“I wish Gervasi was our home.” -Greylen, as we were pulling out of Gervasi Vineyard in Canton. And that’s when I knew, not only is she my daughter but my soul mate.
Did you know that June is Ohio Wine Month? There are 320+ wineries in Ohio (what?!) and I partnered with the Ohio Grape Industries Committee (OGIC) to visit one of my favorites.
I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve raved about Gervasi in person and on the blog (here’s a post I wrote about my stay with my mom a few years back!) but this time, I went for a different experience – a family adventure! It was a beautiful night and instead of eating at the Bistro or The Crush House (both amazing…), we decided to pack a blanket and have a picnic with food and wine from The Piazza. It’s a fast-casual style dining experience where you order at the counter, receive a buzzer and then pick up your food when it’s ready. It may be more casual but it’s definitely no less delicious than their other offerings. We ordered a little bit of everything food-wise – the buffalo chicken pita chips, the bbq pork pita chips, the meat and cheese plate, a cheese pizza, a pepperoni pizza…the list goes on. As for the most important part, the wine, Gervasi’s Abbraccio continues to be one of my favorites (like favorites ever…) and we really enjoyed the Truscano as well. We tried almost every red wine on the menu and there truly isn’t a bad choice! Best of all, all of their wines are cellared and bottled on premise. It’s always amazing to me how wine made right here in Ohio can be sooooo, so good. My goal for this summer is to try a few more local wineries to sample some more Ohio wine (you can see a full list of Ohio wineries here)…tough goal but someone’s gotta do it. 😉
After our picnic, we walked around the Gervasi property. There are so many new things to check out there right now – my favorite being the new coffee house/distillery/cocktail bar called The Still House. We stopped by there on our way out but ended up staying for dessert, a latte and oneee more drink. It’s such an impressive structure and of course features the top-notch food/drink offerings and service that Gervasi is known for!
Gervasi is so fun with other adults but I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun it was with our kids too. There’s plenty of green space for them to run around, corn hole, beautiful scenery and live music.
So yeah, I think it’s safe to say I also wish Gervasi was our home. But I guess I’ll settle with it being a quick 1-hour drive away for now. Cheers!

Oh, this is so fun! My mom LOVES Gervasi, but I haven’t spent as much time there as I’d like to. I’m itching to get out there for a visit this summer.

It’s my favorite place, truly!
