forage public house
This weekend, I tried a new spot in Lakewood for lunch – Forage Public House. It’s located on Detroit where Pacers used to be. I had never been to Pacers so I can’t compare the two but I’d say this is a fabulous new addition to Lakewood.
What I didn’t love:
- The vegan mac and cheese (pictured below) wasn’t my favorite and I can’t quite pinpoint why. I am a huge cheese fan so maybe the cashew cream substitute just wasn’t doing it for me.
What I love:
- A lot of what they serve is local and they note on the menu where items are from.
- The tomato bisque and poutine (don’t judge me) were both some of the best I’ve ever had. The poutine was made with Lake Erie Creamery cheese curds and house made gravy…it even rivaled Greenhouse Tavern’s animal pommel frites which is definitely not easy to do.
- The atmosphere is really cool but not stuffy. I went in yoga clothes. I obviously wouldn’t do that at dinner but for lunch, I think it was fine.
