greylen’s room reveal!

Can someone tell me HOW my baby is going to be FOUR next week?! Grey got a big gift this year…we’ve been re-doing her room this month!

If you know Grey, you know she LOVES rainbows (she even had a rainbow-themed birthday party last year). So, a rainbow room it was. Originally, I was going to just get a big wall decal but quickly found out they are SO expensive. Sooo, I just decided to take a chance and paint it myself. I was able to do the rainbow with 5 of the sample sizes of paint from Home Depot (like $3 each), a roller and a paint brush. This part of the project was probably only about $25 max! My aunt came over to help me paint it and she had the brilliant idea to tack one end of a string to the middle of the wall and then tie a pencil around the other end to draw a perfect half circle each time. I sketched in pencil and then went over it first with a small roller and then with a large 4 inch paint brush. I absolutely LOVE the unfinished and imperfect look of it. On the opposite side of the room, I did a diagonal accent wall in the Behr color “Retro Pink” and it makes such a statement. Seriously, what a difference a little paint makes. I want to paint my whole house now!

She already had the chair, nightstand, bed and bedding from her old room so that helped a ton from the expense side of things. The biggest investment piece was the Ruggable rug which I am SO happy with. I’ve had my eye on them for awhile now and thought Grey’s room would be the perfect place to try one (they are washable so great for a kid’s room!). I used my favorite decor hack for the prints (except this time I bought downloadable files instead of making them myself). So easy and affordable! Some of the other decor pieces we had and some are new (most of the new things are from World Market!). We also moved her doll house into her room so that she could play in there during her “quiet/alone time” each day. So far, so good!

I always say that my kids’ rooms are my favorite to decorate and that still holds true. Nixon, you’re next!
