how we repurposed our kitchen table as a desk & other home office updates
With working remote becoming so common these days, home offices are more important than ever! I’ve been working mostly from home for awhile now and Ben is now doing the same but we just recently got around to updating our office.
First we painted the office white to match most of the rest of the house (my favorite white paint is Polar Bear). I had been getting really frustrated with our kitchen table and bench (it’s the Emmerson collection from West Elm). I liked the look of the table but crumbs kept getting stuck in between the wood pieces and I would constantly be trying to get them out with a toothpick. It was ruining the table! I had been looking and looking for a desk and I finally had the idea to try the table in the office. I was surprised that it actually worked! And I’m so happy because we got a new kitchen table that I’m obsessed with (will share soon!). I love this table as a desk because it’s huge. We can pull up the bench and both work at it if needed.
I accessorized with black and white because…duh. The vases are from H&M Home but unfortuantely, I don’t see them on the site anymore. I also found these amazzzzzing art pieces at Home Goods. I honestly never find good, modern stuff there but I definitely hit the jackpot that day! They are really big and so there wasn’t a need for much else in the room.
By the way, these coffee mugs are a little small (or my usual coffee pours are a little large!) but I absolutely love them.
For now, the bench sits against the wall to “hide” our printer, router, and Ben’s playstation, ha. I made the canvas art piece above the bench. It’s not perfect but it’ll do for now!
The chair is HomeFun. I don’t see it online but here is a similar one in cream. Found the desk mat on Amazon. It’s perfect!
The rug is from Target! It’s a good find for the price!
It has definitely been an adjustment getting used to both of us working from home but a beautiful space sure does help! 🙂
