my 11 piece spring capsule wardrobe + styling inspiration

Let me start off by saying that this post was so fun to put together! I’ve been a little bit of a blogging, style, life rut and so picking out my spring essentials was a great way to get me re-energized! Part of it is that we have had like two nice days in Cleveland this spring. I’m soooo ready for some warmth!

So, let’s get to it! Today I’m talking about my spring essentials. Do you ever walk into your (stuffed) closet and feel like you have nothing to wear? That’s been happening a lot for me lately! Part of it is because I’m almost 30 weeks pregnant but part of it is because my closet definitely needs a little bit of a change! Enter the capsule wardrobe. A capsule wardrobe is basically a mini wardrobe made of essentials that are versatile and easy to wear. I love a good trend here and there but I also love the idea of putting these little capsule wardrobes together each season to make getting dressed each day simple! Plus, as I get older, I’m more into spending more on fewer items. Quality over quantity is a must for any capsule wardrobe!

If you can’t already tell, I’m all about casual basics and denim for spring and well, any season! The following 11 items are things you probably already have in your closet or can get relatively easily/on a budget. I pulled everything for this post right from my closet!

Boyfriend jeans – It’s still cold in the spring in Cleveland SO jeans are always a must. I am really into the fit of a boyfriend jean right now but can’t wait to not be pregnant so I can try some new styles!

Baseball hat – I wear a baseball hat almost every day. So much so that Greylen asked me to buy her one so we could match!

Dress you can dress up or dress down – The ruched Leith dress from Nordstrom is PERFECT for any occasion. I’ve worn it with tennis shoes for errands or with heels to a bridal shower. You can wear it pregnant or not, too!

Button-up top or dress – Mine is kind of like a shirt dress. I wear it buttoned up like a dress, open over tees and shorts or tied up at my waist. Super versatile! I’ve seen bloggers style this one similarly – I love it!

Jean shorts – I love the Levi’s 501 shorts. I will definitely need to try them again post baby to make sure they have enough coverage in all the right places but as of last year, they were my favorite!

Basic tee – You can’t go wrong with a basic tee and my newest obsession are the $8 Any Day ones from Target!

Sunglasses – A staple for any season, obviously!

Scarf – I love the versatility of a simple head or neck scarf. You can wear them multiple different ways (see my post about that here) and they just add a little something to a basic outfit.

White tennis shoes – Another item I wear almost every day. I wear mine with dresses, jeans, jean shorts, skirts…basically anything!

Camel sandals – Camel sandals are ones you can wear all the time, with anything. The color goes with brown, black, navy, you name it.

Jean jacket – Mine is more of a larger fit but I would suggest going with something more tailored like what’s linked. I’m thinking of investing in one like this!
