gift guide: parents and in-laws

gift guide for parents and in-laws

I put a poll on Instagram and the #1 requested gift guide was for parents and in-laws! So, here we go!

Personalized calendar
I’ve done this on and off since Greylen was born and it has been a hit every time! I’ve used Minted and Shutterfly in the past and both have been great just depending on the style you want. You can customize with pictures from throughout the year and can add important events like birthdays and anniversaries.

Anthropologie Capri Blue Volcano candle
I get most of my candles at TJMaxx but when you really want to treat yoself (or someone else!), Anthropologie candles are the move. Their Capri Blue Volcano is their signature scent – you know the one if you’d been in an Anthropologie store! The jars come in multiple sizes at multiple price points and are so pretty. Consider gifting with a USB rechargeable lighter – we got one last year and it’s the coolest gadget!

The Sill plant subscription
I love this plant subscription – I have gifted it to a few friends recently! They have multiple options (pet-friendly, plants for beginners, low light) and each month, the recipient will receive a plant in a beautiful pot. They can even choose which color pot they want and switch monthly. They are so chic looking!

Hello Fresh monthly subscription or gift card
We personally use Hello Fresh a couple times a month and I find it so practical and helpful. They send all of the ingredients to make a certain number of meals each week for 2 (ours usually feeds our whole family of 4, though). Other options are Blue Apron, Home Chef, and SunBasket.

Date Night in a Box
This seems so fun! Date Night in a Box will deliver a custom, curated date night to the recipient monthly. Example boxes include dinner and dancing and Roaring 20s game night. You can choose from multiple packages or a gift card.

Zoo passes for them and the grandkids
Normally I’d suggest some sort of experience for parents/in-laws and grandkids but this year, things are a little different! The zoo seems like the safest option right now given that it’s mostly outside!

23andMe DNA test
For the person who has everything, check out 23andMe! I know my mom has done this and enjoyed learning about her genetics and family history. We are getting this for my grandma this year!

Venus Et Fleur
These flowers last an entire year with minimal care! They would be SO awesome for a home office, kitchen, etc. So unique and likely something they’d never buy themselves!

Getaway cabin adventure
I love Getaway (read about my experience here and here)! Again, with the restrictions this year, gifting experiences is kind of hard. But I can say that this felt like a totally safe option. If your parents or in-laws are up for adventure, they will love this!

Framebridge gift card
I never get around to framing family photos that I should. Framebridge makes it super easy by custom framing your photos for you (you can even frame textiles, objects, and more). If you need updated family photos, gifting a photo session is always an awesome idea as well!
