recapping my trip to new orleans

I just got back from a bachelorette party in New Orleans! It was my first time there and we definitely packed a lot into our 3 day trip.

Where we stayed
We stayed at an awesome old mansion on Magazine Street (Airbnb for the win!). It was perfect for our large party (about 15) and was in a great location. We never Uber-ed more than 10 minutes anywhere. I didn’t snap nearly enough pics in the house!

Where we ate
The food in New Orleans is legit and, I’m not even a big gumbo or seafood person!

Cafe Beignet Our first stop of the trip was to Cafe Beignet, obviously. Beignets are the most delicious fried fritter-like pastries served warm and covered in powdered sugar. Still dreaming about these! Others in our group tried Cafe Du Monde, which I think is more popular, and raved about them as well!

Salon by Sucre – We did an afternoon tea (jk, wine) at Salon by Sucre and I would highly recommend this spot for a group of ladies! It’s really cute, they offer bottomless mimosas daily and the food is great. That little puff pastry goodness down there is french onion soup!

Balise – One of our nice dinners was at Balise. I split the chicken and a vegetarian dish with a friend and we loved them both. A lot of girls in our party got the burger and enjoyed that too. The service was great – I would definitely recommend for a large party!

Stumptown Coffee – This unique little coffee shop is connected to the Ace Hotel. They focus on cold-brew coffee and I loved the chocolate, cream and coffee concoction they serve milk-carton style!

Cafe Amelie – I was alone pretty much all day on Sunday (everyone else left really early and my flight was late) so I decided to treat myself to a nice meal. The patio/courtyard here is amazing! It’s definitely a hot spot for brunch – I had to wait over an hour for a table for 1. There’s plenty of room to sit and wait, though, so I grabbed a cocktail and read a book outside!

Where we went

Alto at Ace Hotel – We did a rooftop pool day at Alto which is part of the Ace Hotel. It was such a fun way to spend an afternoon and it wasn’t too crowded at all! They have a lunch menu by the pool and fun, fancy cocktails!

Bourbon Street – Definitely a must-do in New Orleans! We hit up Saints and Sinners (Channing Tatum’s bar) and the Cat’s Meow karaoke bar to dance and sing the night away.

The French Quarter – I loved walking around the French Quarter during the day. There are so many antique shops, voodoo stores and other quirky places to check out. There’s also live music on every corner!

Pat O’Briens – Definitely a touristy spot but we had so much fun drinking at Pat O’Briens. Hurricane drinks are a must!

Riverwalk – Like I said, I was alone most of the day Sunday so I kept myself busy with some shopping at the outlet stores and a walk along the river. So pretty!

Have you been to New Orleans?! What did you do?
