shopping for boys + a picket fence boutique giveaway
If you didn’t catch my post from a couple of weeks ago, we are having a boy in July! I am so excited but I mentioned in that post that I’m also super nervous. It’s been all baby girl in our house for 2 years and you definitely get used to what you have. And, as awesome as I thought I was at buying gender neutral stuff, I looked through Grey’s old clothes this past week and I have almost nothing that will work for a boy! Shopping time! Dressing Greylen has been easy…almost natural because I basically just buy things I would wear in baby sizes. But dressing a boy? No idea where to start.ย So, this is a request for help. Where are your favorite places to shop for boy clothes? What do baby boys wear most frequently? What do I need for a boy that I didn’t need for a girl?
To celebrate the fact that it’s a boy, I’ve teamed up with Picket Fence to give one of you $50 to their shop. To enter, simply comment on this post letting me know what you’d buy from the boutique (for your kids or yourself) with your winnings! For an additional entry, leave another comment with what types of clothing you love for baby boys. I will choose a random winner on March 10!

So many great things I love about the Picket Fence! They have wonderful local pieces specific to your hometown, great stationary and planners, and I love their jewelry selection. Picket Fence also carries Cupcakes and Cashmere line, which is super feminine and chic.

I shop at the Picket Fence for my nephew all.the.time! Absolutely love the KicKee pants brand. From their swaddles to pajamas, hands down the softest cotton out there. Their little blankets are great for newborns to swaddle and then become something for them to sleep. KicKee Pants all the way!

I’m not ready to dress a little boy either! Why does it feel so intimidating!

I can’t decide —- would I get myself the flower bomber jacket? The “happy” pullover is SO SO SO cute though! My boy Stu would look super cute in it & it would be fun to mix it with fun pants!

Also, congrats!!! That should have been the first thing I commented, sorry! It’s been a long week, lol. And double-congrats b/c boys clothing has come SUCH A LONG WAY. When my 7 year old nephew was born, there wasn’t much at all – and even now, there’s so much more for baby boys (and older boys) than there was when my 2 year old son was born. I love mixing patterns and prints, and things that aren’t too stereotypically “boy” (we don’t do too many sports themes, etc). I love mixing things like a pair of gray sweatpants that have a minimalist forest print on them with things like a flannel or a graphic tshirt. I check out the girl’s section, too – it’s harder now that he’s getting bigger, but you can snag a lot when your babe is super little! Things like jeggings are more common in the girls’s section, and I’m big into leggings, so we put him in a lot of those. The girls section has a lot of fun pants that you wouldn’t know were “girls” unless you saw them there (so like all parents but friends without kids have no clue, lol!) And staples/basics – sometimes they don’t have any options or limited colors in the boys, so I’ve found him black long sleeved shirts/etc before from the girls section. But seriously, enjoy shopping for your boy! It’s a different kind of fun to dress up a boy and I love it ๐

For my son, I’m loving the long sleeve rash guard. I love how cute it is and that it offers protection against the hot Florida sun.

I love to dress my son in nautical clothes. Things with sailboats, anchors, classic prints in blue and red. I like to dress my son in onesies, but my husband prefers pants/shorts and a t-shirt. He doesn’t like dealing with the tiny snaps on a onesie.
